About Us

The mission of the UWRF Chapter of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is to benefit its members by continually improving its support, promotion and advocacy of the highest quality preparation of professionals in audiology, speech-language pathology and speech and hearing science. This student-run organization is open to all undergraduate and graduate students within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Why join the UW-River Falls chapter of NSSLHA?

UWRF NSSLHA initiates, promotes and participates in various service events both within the community and on campus. These events include:

  • Participating in the UWRF Health Fair
  • Conducting language / literacy story hour for children at the Turning Point Shelter for Domestic Violence
  • Volunteer for events sponsored by local organizations and long term care facilities.
  • Host events on campus to provide education about communication disorders.
  • Plan and participate in academic events such as study groups and having professional speakers present at meetings. 
  • Plan and participate in fundraisers. All money raised and funds students to attend the Wisconsin Speech-Language and Hearing Association and supports the purchase of materials for the University Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic.
  •  Meet other students in the department
  • Build your resume
  • Save $140 on ASHA dues upon graduation (must be a national NSSLHA member for three consecutive years)
